Hunt Local is a marketplace. We introduce hunters to hunting farms and handle the booking and the accommodation payment. We are not the farm.

The hunt itself is an agreement between you and the farm. We do not own, run, inspect or supervise any property listed here, we do not guide hunts, and we are not a party to what happens once you arrive. Farms are independent businesses responsible for their own operations, staff, safety and legal compliance.

Where a farm shows a "Verified" badge, it means we have done a basic check on the business. It is not a guarantee of the quality or safety of the hunt, and it is not an inspection.

You need an account to book, so that the farm knows who is arriving. You must be 18 or older, and the details you give us must be accurate.

A booking is confirmed immediately once payment goes through - the farm does not have to approve it first. You are booking the accommodation for your party at the farm's per-person, per-night rate, for hunters, non-hunters and children as applicable.

Trophy and species fees are not part of what you pay us. Those are settled with the farm directly, at the farm's own rates, and we never take a share of them. Any species prices shown on a listing are the farm's, published for information.

Hunting in South Africa is regulated, and complying with those rules is your obligation:

• You must hold a valid firearm licence and competency certificate under the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000 for any firearm you bring, and carry and transport it lawfully
• You must comply with the hunting regulations and permit requirements of the province you are hunting in. These differ province by province, including on seasons and protected species
• You must follow the farm's own rules, safety briefings and the guide's instructions
• You must not hunt under the influence of alcohol or drugs

We do not check licences, competency certificates or permits, and nothing on this site should be read as confirmation that you are entitled to hunt.

Hunting involves firearms, wild animals, rough terrain and remote locations. It carries a real risk of serious injury or death, to you and to others. You take part at your own risk and are responsible for your own conduct and that of anyone in your party.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Hunt Local is not liable for injury, death, loss or damage arising from a hunt, from a farm's acts or omissions, or from the condition of a property. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

Arranging your own insurance for a hunting trip is sensible, and is your decision to make.

You may only list a property you own or are authorised to let. By listing, you confirm that you hold whatever licences, permits and permissions your operation requires, that your listing is accurate, and that you will honour bookings made through the platform.

Every listing is reviewed by us before it goes live. We may decline or remove a listing at our discretion, including where it is inaccurate, unlawful, or where we have concerns about how the operation is run.

You set your own accommodation rates and your own trophy fees. You are responsible for your own tax affairs, including any VAT.

Listing is free. We take commission on the booking total - the accommodation, plus a day fee where the farm charges one - and never on trophy or species fees: 12% on the free plan, 10% on Pro, 8% on Premium. It comes off the farm's side and is never added on top of what the hunter pays.

Booking money is held until after the guest's stay has finished, then released to the farm's balance to withdraw. This protects the hunter if something goes wrong before the stay, and means we are not clawing money back from a farm that has already been paid. A withdrawal fee applies on the free and Pro plans.

Not yet set. The cancellation window and refund terms are still being finalised and will be published here, in full, before real bookings open. They will apply from the date they are published and will not be applied retrospectively.

What we can say now: section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act gives you a right to cancel an advance booking, subject to a reasonable cancellation charge, and any policy we publish will respect that.

Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has got into your account. You are responsible for what happens under your login.

We may suspend or close an account that abuses the platform, files false listings or bookings, or puts other users at risk.

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
