For hunters
How does Hunt Local work?
Browse hunting farms, filter by province, species, dates and group size, and book the dates you want. Farms keep their own calendar up to date, so anything you can see is genuinely open - the hunt is yours the moment you book it.
Do I pay extra to use Hunt Local?
No. The farm sets the price and that's what you pay. Our commission comes off the farm's side of the booking, not added to yours.
Can I book instantly?
Yes. Farms mark the dates they can't take, so everything still showing is open, and booking it confirms it there and then. You pay straight afterwards - the dates are held for you either way.
Do I have to wait for the farm to accept?
No. There is nothing to wait for - the booking is confirmed as you make it, and the farm's exact location and phone number are on your account straight away.
When do I find out exactly where the farm is?
The moment your booking is confirmed. Public listings show the area - the nearest town and roughly how far out - and the exact location, directions and the farm's own number come with your confirmation.
Do I pay the full amount up front?
You choose a 25% deposit or the full amount when you request, and neither is taken unless the farm accepts. The balance is due before your hunt.
What types of hunts are listed?
Biltong hunts, trophy hunts, plains game and bird hunts. Each farm lists its own experiences and accommodation rates.
Do I need my own rifle?
Many farms offer firearm rental. Look for the 'Firearm Rental Available' tag on a listing.
Are silencers allowed?
Some farms allow them. Listings that do carry a 'Silencer Allowed' tag.
Do I need a hunting licence?
Some provinces and farms require a permit. Check the individual listing, and confirm with the farm before you travel.
Are trophy fees included?
No. Trophy fees are paid to the farm directly and are separate from the accommodation booking.

How do I list my farm?
Get in touch and we'll help set up your profile, experiences and accommodation rate. Listing is free.
What does it cost?
Nothing to list. We take 12% commission on the booking total (accommodation plus any day fee), dropping to 10% on Pro (R499/month) and 8% on Premium (R999/month).
Do you take a cut of trophy fees?
Never. Commission applies to the accommodation portion only. Trophy fees, daily rates and extras are yours in full.
When do I get paid?
Booking funds sit in your Hunt Local wallet as pending until after the hunt date, then become available to withdraw to your bank account.
Why hold funds until after the hunt?
So a cancelled or disputed booking can be refunded cleanly, without us having to claw money back from you after you've already withdrawn it.
Is there a withdrawal fee?
R25 on the Free plan, R10 on Pro, and free on Premium. It's deducted from the amount you withdraw.
Can I manage my own availability?
Yes. You keep your calendar current, we only offer dates you're actually open, and no booking is made without you accepting it.
How do I control which dates get booked?
From your farm dashboard. Close any dates you can't take - already let privately, family using the lodge, a burn - and nobody can book them. Everything left open inside your season can be booked on the spot, so keeping that calendar current is the job.
